linguist

Linguist: a person accomplished in languages; especially one who speaks several languages.

“Language shapes the way we think, and determines what we can think about.” Benjamin Lee Whorf

I love words and I'm fluent in more than one language.  I haven't really blogged in Spanish though.  I think I might sprinkle a few words here and there because after all writing is practicing and can only help me improve my skills.

I love reading definitions and finding synonyms to help me understand language better.  It may be nerdy but I love to learn so it's actually fun for me.
language - idioma
read - leer
write - escribir
think - pensar

What is it like to read, write and think in two languages?
Como es leer, escribir y pensar en dos idiomas?

At times it can be tongue twisting.  Sometimes it takes me a minute to find the appropriate word.  But I'm a strong believer in 'you can never know too much'.

I can also understand a bit of Portuguese and Italian since there are some similarities in the Romance languages.  I am also attempting to learn French which I'm not finding it easy.  I do find that hearing the correct pronunciations in French helps me to remember and pronounce more accurately.  When a language is constantly in your ear its easier to pick up.

Do you blog in more than one language?
If so, have you come across any challenges?

Love this post, Letty! I blog a tiny bit in Spanish. I'd never written anything in Spanish before, so why not, now? *LOL* I regret a tiny bit not having studied Spanish in high school and college, only because my Spanish needs some serious TLC. On the other hand, French is such a beautiful language and once you know one Romance language, the others seem to come easier. Except for Portuguese. That language is my traba-lenguas-tongue twister. : D I've missed your posts this week. I've been buried.

Keep up el frances!
