objective: something that one's efforts or actions are intended to attain or accomplish; purpose; goal; target.
"Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory."
Sun Tzu
"You have to believe in yourself."
Sun Tzu
Recently, while conversing with a friend, I was reminded of a book I read several years ago when I started my first business. It was the biography of a successful entrepreneur from the UK. In this book he described his education, the schools he attended and the courses he took. One of the courses he mentioned focused on great military leaders and their war tactics. It had such a great impact on him, he then applied what he had learned from these military leaders to business to became a very successful businessman. It's inspiring to see what can be accomplished provided a focused education.
Having this conversation made me realize that these tactics can be applied to many situations as well as life in general. This inspired me to create a series of blog posts highlighting war tactics and military strategy and how you can use them to be successful in life.
I will be starting a weekly series to be posted every Tuesday tentatively titled:
Art of War Tactics Applied the Bella Vida Way
The series is not only inspired by Sun Tzu's The Art of War but also from military strategy and tactics developed by some of the worlds most successful leaders. The purpose of which is to develop skills that will lead to living a Bella Vida = enable you to live your ideal happy life.
Step One:
Objective: to direct every military operation towards a clearly defined, decisive, and attainable objective.
The first step to reaching success in any aspect of life is having a clear Goal. I'll be frank, until you master this step, you are doomed to fail. Don't waste your time moving on to the next step without answering the following questions truthfully.
Yes, I'm sure you have your goals but are they clear?
Are your goals realistic?
Can they be achieved?
Now what is your main goal?
My goal is to live a Beautiful Life which I have defined for myself keeping in mind my personal needs to find happiness while doing things that are personally satisfying. I know I'm happiest when creating, therefore, one of my goals this year was to open up and be the creative I am. I gave myself permission to create freely whatever I felt like whenever I felt like it.
I can honestly say I have created something almost every single day this year and it has been quite a learning experience. By not setting any constraints I have learned which things I gravitate to, where I am most productive, when I am most productive and what comes naturally or instinctively.
It was an experiment and now I will take what I have learned in the first half of the year to step up my goals for the next half of the year because I'm confident of my capabilities.
Half the year has passed, have you defined clear goals or are you fine tuning them?
