Doily Inspired Birthday Banners

Happy New Year! One of my resolutions is to create every time I get the urge and not put it off for later. I am happiest when I am creating so I will be ℋAℙℙY.

My latest project came about when I saw these dainty little doily's at the dollar store. I have used them previously to make beautiful baby shower favors and wanted to come up with something completely different for a birthday.

This project was super easy. For the top banner I used curling ribbon because I have tons of curling ribbon in every color. I suggest you choose a color to coordinate with your birthday color scheme. Mine was baby blue. Simply cut the the doily in half and adhere to the ribbon. I used tape because it was quick and easy.

For the lettering I simply printed them off the computer. This allowed me to chose a pretty font, color and the correct size for this particular doily. I printed on a shipping label so all I had to do was stick it directly onto the doily once cut out. Another short cut to save me time.

I used curling ribbon again and weaved it through the lace details of the doily making a small knot in the back to keep them in place exactly where I wanted them to stay.

So there you have it. A great project that's easy enough to get the kids involved. If you want to get fancier just keep adding embellishments like gems and stickers. I will be making a much longer garland to drape across the fence for our outdoor party.

Enjoy & Keep creating.

Thanks. I find I need more than one outlet to express my creativity.
