Creating spaces that Inspire

There is a space between man's imagination and man's attainment that may only be traversed by his longing. ~ Kahlil Gibran
It is only in the world of objects that we have time and space and selves. ~ T. S. Eliot

I can create just about anywhere . . . the kitchen, outside, the car, the dining room table . . . but there's something very special about having a dedicated space to create.  I had the brilliant idea to repaint my desk.  The urge was great.  It came alive and from there decided I wanted to change the wall color.  The previous color was a warm creamy brown cafe con leche color.  It has been that way for ten years.  The new color is called Light French Gray.  It's a classic cool color that makes me smile when I walk in the room.  I thought it would make a great backdrop to my black, white & splashes of pink accessories.

But as I sit here typing one can say that the colors also represent stages of my life.  For a long time I was earth brown mother and now I'm ready to transition to a more elegant workspace.  Good bye sweet little crayon drawings on the wall.  You will be in my heart forever.  Hello clean slate where piece by piece I can express all those ideas swirling in my head and soul.

I couldn't find a before picture other than the one of my work area where I was creating fairy wings. The desk was brown with a black top.  Now it's a color called vintage white which you can see in the second half of the photo along with my finished painting Forest of Fairy Wings.

Today I'm painting a beautiful wood molding to match which will go on the edges of the desk.  As I  evolve so does my personal space.  Piece by piece all of the details come together to make a beautiful whole.

Do you have a space dedicated to creating?
