Fire: 1. A rapid, persistent chemical change that releases heat and light and is accompanied by flame, especially the exothermic oxidation of a combustible substance. 2. Liveliness and vivacity of imagination; brilliance.
"It is with our passions as it is with fire and water; they are good servants, but bad masters."

Jimi Hendrix
Now listen baby!
You try to give me your money,
You better save it babe.
Save it for your rainy day.
I have only one burning desire,
let me stand next to your fire.
Bruce Springsteen
Romeo and juliet, samson and delilah
Baby you can bet their love they didnt deny
Your words say split but your words they lie
`cause when we kiss, fire
Scissor Sisters
Underneath your skies
There's a million lights
Burning brightly just like fireflies
And tomorrow has become today, become today
And we'll fight fire with fire
Fire with fire Fire with fire
Through desire, desire -sire, desire
Billy Joel

It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it
The Doors
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
In each of these lyrics fire is equated with passion. Like fire there is a physical & chemical change. There is heat that must be released. And these physical changes may overcome us and have nothing whatsoever to do with thought or common sense but our basic physical composition and attraction to each other. We are not just thinking creatures we are animal inhabitants of this planet.
But we can also apply this fiery passion to our craft and the act of creation. There are days I feel like a volcano about to erupt if I don't get the words out or the paint on the canvas. I don't think I could maintain my sanity without creative release.
There may be a great fire in our soul, yet no one ever comes to warm himself at it, and the passers-by see only a wisp of smoke. ~Vincent van Gogh
So okay, I've had a request for more stories and today's topic is fire. Have you ever had a fiery relationship? I've had a few but those steamy, sensual stories are for my memoirs or whoever pays the most. heeheehahahaha Instead you will get a story about a bonfire. But hey it's a true story. I pinky swear.

I was a teen living in Puerto Rico hanging out with some friends. I don't remember what the heck we were doing but it was probably hanging out en Plaza. We grew bored as teens often do when someone said there was a bonfire at the beach. Then ensued the usual controversy of who will drive and will that vehicle actually make it to our final destination. Cause you see kiddies this destination was a few towns over at a sweet spot called 'La Selva'.
Our group of friends splits up and grows smaller as those who can't go leave and those with super teen invincibility powers make plans. You know what I'm talking about, the powers you have as a teen when you absolutely positively are invincible. Nothing, I mean absolutely nothing can touch you or ever go wrong. It's inconceivable to the super teen.
For the purposes of this story I will rename my super friends. First we have a boy I'll call RocknRoll, cause he plays guitar, sings and dreams of being a star. Next is our boy, Muscles, because straight up he is freaking way to huge to have a football players body and still be in high school. And then there's mua with fully activated super powers and willing to do almost anything to not be bored. We get into the rust mobile and put it $1.75 worth of gas and head to our destination.
La Selva is a gorgeous secluded surfing spot and to get there you had to park really far away and walk through acres of private property. Now, I had never been there myself because as a non swimmer the only time I go to the beach is to work on my golden tan. I was completely relying on my boys super powers to get us there. And we made it. The rust bucket barely making up the steep hill we had to park on but we didn't care.
Now the fun begins. It's night and we are on farm acres which means no light poles. It was pitch black out there. But we were super teens, SUPER lucky there was a full moon lighting our way through the grassy fields. It was incredibly beautiful to be surrounded by nature in that tall grassy field and so close to the ocean she caressed us with her sweet smelling breeze. We pretend the millions of stars were our road-map pointing us in the right direction. We joked, laughed and sang until we reached the next field we had to cross. This field was full of cows.
Now RocknRoll had been cool up until then. He had a crush on me but the feeling was not mutual. I told him we could not be more than friends but he was a super teen with rock n roll delusions. He wanted to impress me with his coolness by getting me to the magic, mystical bonfire. But seeing those cows weakened his super powers. He swears he heard this story about a cow rushing someone before. Muscles and I crack up at the idea of being attacked by a cow. Muscles says no freaking way. It had to be a bull not a cow. So he picks up a huge piece of wood and swings it like a bat.
Why of course! We smile at each other, look for a weapon = more wood and go over the fence. Were there bulls along with cows in this field? We didn't care cause we fully embraced our super invincibility powers plus we had sticks.
RocknRoll tried to pass on his paranoia but Muscles and I had very strong super powers.
I remember looking up at the cows and them being very still. A black spotted white one in particular which was so large I had to look up at her. Muscles said they were asleep and I chose to believe him. I could swear RocknRoll grew paler in the moonlight thinking about getting pierced by a foot long bull's horn. We couldn't help but tease him that we thought we heard a bull roar at the moon. It was funny until we reached the next obstacle, a giant mud pit.
We could see the dirt road leading to the beach just beyond. It's an incredible memory of an orange brown dirt sand road. I could see it's color because the full moon would break through the coconut filled palm trees each time the ocean breeze came at us. But we had to get past the mud pit first.
RocknRoll racking up the sexiness points which he lost earlier by being afraid of gentle cows said he would sacrifice himself and carry me through the mud pit. Muscles looked at my cool tagged up, perfectly faded Converse sneakers which had made it through an entire cow field without getting any dookie on them and smiled.
Sticks! We were kids with sticks!
We had our huge plywood sticks which muscles threw down into the mud forming a bridge for us to walk over. Muscles became the coolest teen freak ever!
We made it! We did it! We made it out of the cow fields without getting attacked by a bull.
woo to the hoo!!
Minutes later as our adrenaline rush slowly faded we realized we didn't see any bonfire. But were we disappointed? Heck no. We were alive on a beautiful magic night under the stars with a moon shining our path like a flashlight.
We headed to the ocean shore to throw coconuts and from there we did see the large flames of the bonfire several yards east of where we had emerged onto the beach.
