Creative Re-purposing at the Wynwood Art Fair

This weekend I wanted to enjoy the cooler weather to the fullest and headed out to the Wynwood Art Fair which was benefited the Lotus House charity.

"One mans trash is another mans treasure."

I came away inspired as I knew I would.  There were many pieces of art made from recycled materials.  I really love this idea.

Mary Larson
 One of my favorites was by Mary Larson who created beautiful pieces of art using discarded floppy disks.  Clever and beautiful.

I was captivated by this recycled book.

It was fascinating to listen to the artists on hand describing the inspiration behind their works of art.

 This gorgeous piece is also a working set of speakers and mp3 dock.

Everything in this tent was created out of wire.

Stay tuned I'll be posting many more photos this week.

I will leave you with some Cool quotes about recycling:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."
"If hazardous materials are not fit to be disposed of in the suburbs, they are certainly not fit to be disposed of in the cities. If toxic waste is not safe enough to be dumped in the United States , it is not safe enough to be dumped in Ghana , Liberia , Somalia , nor anywhere else in the world."
"It´s an illusion that the solution to pollution is dilution!"
"Solid wastes are the discarded leftovers of our advanced consumer society. This growing mountain of garbage and trash represents not only an attitude of indifference toward valuable natural resources, but also a serious economic and public health problem."  Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States, Message to the Congress, 23 May 77
Do you recycle or are involved in creative re-purposing? I'd love to hear about it.
